Winter Spring Makeup Colors

Finding Your Colors: the Seasons Color Palettes

The thing about picking colors for your season, is that you can really go with almost Any color.

What matters, though, is the intensity of the color, and the undertones.

For instance, did you know that you can have a cool toned red? Or a warm grey?

Winter Spring Makeup Colors

This is because all colors come from the three primary colors: red, blue and yellow. So you have varying amounts of these colors in every color under the sun.

For instance, a cool red will have more shades of blue in it. Warm grays will have yellow or red undertones.

So if you are a winter, you will find that cool toned reds suit you better. For Autumns, warm toned reds will bring out your best look.

At first, it seems paradoxical.

It’s the same with Spring and Summer. While Autumn and winters have strong colors (in general) spring and summer favour soft, less intense shades.

But people with summer coloring will look better with cool toned pinks. People with spring complexion will come alive with warm toned pinks and greens.

In fact, whatever season coloring you belong to, you can find a tone or hue of a color that will set of your eyes, and make you look fabulous.

Exceptions

Winters alone can wear pure black and white.

Other seasons will look better with an off or near white

Autumn is the only season palette that has dark brown

The Autumn palette has no navy, pink or gray.

Winter has no brown or orange

Summer has no orange

Spring has no black or pure white.

This doesn’t mean you can’t wear these colors. It doesn’t mean you’ll look terrible in them. But you won’t look your Best in them.

And finding your colors is all about finding what you’ll look your absolute best in. And why not look your best?

Finding Your Colors: Winter Complexion

Strong Winter Colors

This post is all about the winter color palette, but really, every woman should find the colors that suit her best. Everyone has colors that she looks great in.

Can you remember when you wore a particular color and everyone complemented you on it? Maybe they said things like ‘it really brings out your eyes’ or ‘it just suits you.’ Chances are, that was when you got your colors spot on. When you use ‘your’ colors you’ll always be looking your best.

The Winter Color Palette

Winter is the only color palette to have pure white and black. Winters favour true primary colors. There are more winters than any type of color types.

However, it has no brown or orange tones. Winter colors are either blue based or true colors. Winter colors are all clear, strong and vivid, or icy.

How to tell if you’re a winter

Have a look at your wardrobe. Which colors do your wear the most? Which ones have you got the most complements with? Which colors make you feel the best when you go out in them?

Often people instinctively know what colors suit them best. Unfortunately,  they often get persuaded by fashion and ‘this season’s trendy colors’ to choose colors that don’t really suit them.

If you look great in black or pure white, then you’re definitely a winter. If  pastel colors make you look washed out, that’s another big yes for winter colors. Same again if brown doesn’t really do it for you. Navy is another really strong color that works with winters.

The best way to tell if you’re a winter is to drape garments of different colors across you. Look in the mirror and see if your face ‘comes alive.’

Within the winter palette you can also choose subtler hues. However stay away from beiges, orange, yellow greens, camel and yellow toned garments.

Winters can wear a true taupe though.

The icy colors are pale variants of the strong winter colors. They are all blue toned or cool colors (hence the ‘icy.) This means that if you prefer lighter subtler colors, you can find them in the winter color palette.

Many winters have olive skin, and blue or brown eyes. Good news for the future:winters also look great as their hair goes gray. They age very gracefully and elegantly.

Spring Makeup Colors

It’s true: you can get a lovely spring glow even after suffering through months of winter paleness. All it takes is a little creativity with makeup. Here’s How….

Facial Scrub

A facial scrub will gently exfoliate your skin, giving it a fresh feeling. Remember to moisturize afterward. This gives you the prefect base for your makeup.

Shimmer for your Eyes

A little shimmer in your eyeshadow will give you that extra sparkle. Try a little gold eyeshadow above your eyelashes. Of course, you want to choose the right colors for your skin tone, but spring gold will always give you a warm glow.

Bronzer (the secret ingredient)

Apply bronzer almost like it’s a natural tan. This means on your cheekbones, forehead, nose and chin. Use natural toned makeup to complement this. You can then use a subtle  blush to your cheeks to get that warm spring glow.

Spring Color Palette

What colors are great for spring ? Golds, peaches, pinks, mauves. These are all warm colors, which help give you that feeling that winter is well and truly behind you!

Makeup Colors for Olive Skin

First up, olive skin is a real bonus. It ages better, doesn't get sunburnt and wrinkly as easily, you'll have lovely dark eyebrows and eyelashes, and you won't need to wear as much makeup to look fabulous.

Eyeshadow

Bronze, light brown, chocolate brown, red brown, silver, gold. Avoid pinks, pastels and oranges.

Eyeliner

Best to go dark here. Olive skinned women tend to have dark eyes (though it's a great exotic look if you do have blue or green eyes.) So a black, charcoal or very dark brown eyeliner will give the strength you need to make your eyes stand out from your dark skin.

Foundation

You can often skip this altogether unless you have specific blemishes you want to conceal.

Blush

For olive skin, you've already got some dark shades happening, so pink blusher is not going to work. Go for rich colours - peach, apricot, even bronze will make the most of the sheen of your skin.

Lipstick

You can make a great statement here. Avoid light reds - they work best with fair skin. Work your natural charm with dusky pink with a touch of gold, dark red, light to medium brown, or earth toned lipstick.
