 Natural Look Makeup

The secret to a natural look makeup is that it should look, well, natural. This means choosing colors that blend in with your skin tones.

You want to use only very light foundation or just concealer, clear lip gloss and minimal eyeliner. Choose browns, bronzes and beiges for eyeshadow. Mascara should be subtle and match your normal eyelash color.

Natural Look Makeup

If you want to use a blush, choose a color that looks like your natural blush! The combination of a blush and natural tinted concealer will give you a lovely glow.

The ‘natural look’ is actually a great one for going out. It’s fresh, simple, and can be fast to apply. If you want more of an evening natural look, try a bit of shimmer in your lip gloss.

Remember, you should always look your best, not for anybody, but for yourself.

Mineral Makeup Application Technique

Mineral Makeup is great for people with sensitive skin, allergies, or people who want to benefit from an all natural makeup powder. Mineral makeup is simply what it’s called: it’s makeup made from minerals found naturally in the earth. The color pigments can still be brilliant, the main difference is they don’t contain all the chemicals often found in conventional makeup.

Applying Mineral Makeup

You can apply mineral makeup wet or dry. For dry application, it’s best to use a brush. It comes in a powder, so a soft brush will give an even texture. You can build up several layers if you want to, so start with a light dusting. When you first apply this makeup it may look a little powdery, but in a few minutes your skin’s natural oils will do their work. This will give you instead a fresh natural look with a subtle glow.

For wet application, put a small amount of powder onto a clean surface. Then squirt a few drops of water and mix with your makeup brush. Use slow circular motions to blend the makeup into your face. When you take the time to carefully blend and have an even coverage, you get the most natural look.

Mineral makeup tends to be more expensive than conventional makeup. But lasts longer, and does many tasks. You can use it as a primer, concealer, foundation and blusher. Mineral makeup also contains natural zinc oxides. This means you get some sun protection too.

And another advantage: at the end of the day, your skin feels as fresh as when you first put your makeup on. Once they make the change to minerals, many people never look back.

Organic Makeup: How to go Green and Look Good

It’s actually a bit scary to read some of the labels for your makeup. Chemicals with long names, additives, preservatives, color agents. And we put this every day on our skin?!

Thankfully, there is an alternative. There’s some great organic makeup being made, some of by large, quite glamorous companies.

Sephora is doing a great new ‘green’ makeup palette called PURE Wanderlust edition.  Victoria’s Secret is doing their PINK soothing organic body wash. And Whole Foods Markets is going into organic cosmetics as well.

And if you’re wanting to try something different from Shea Butter and body washes, there’s always mineral makeup. The whole idea of mineral makeup is that the color comes from the minerals. Therefore: no chemicals.

Organic or ‘green’ makeup is a trend that’s been growing fast. And that’s because it makes sense. After all, our skin is sensitive. So why not use natural products on our skin (provided they look great and help our skin stay healthy!)
