Do You Make these Makeup Mistakes?

Do You Make these Makeup Mistakes?

Safety first with makeup. Here are a few makeup mistakes that many people commit. Make sure you’re not one of them, as these mistakes can lead to eye infections and discomfort.

Do You Make these Makeup Mistakes?

1. Don’t keep eye makeup more than 6 months. Old makeup can contain bacteria and can also get dry and stodgy.

2. Never share makeup with anyone. This is just like an open invitation for an eye or skin infection. The same applies for makeup samplers in shops. Only use samplers if it’s clear you’re using a fresh sampler or it’s set up in a hygenic way.

3. Clean your makeup brushes every week or so. This will keep them fresh and stop bacteria build up.

4. Sharpen makeup pencils so that there’s no chance of wood splinters being anywhere near your eye. Never do makeup while you’re driving! It’s not worth it! Safety first.

5. Try not to mix old makeup with new makeup. Old makeup might be less than hygienic, and you run the risk of spreading the germs to your new makeup.

6. If you do have conjunctivitis or some other eye infection, give your makeup a break. Wait until you get better before applying eyeliner.

That’s a good list to start with for makeup safety and hygiene. You don’t need to be paranoid, just keep these common sense rules, and you should be fine.

How Make Your Makeup Stay On

You all know the horror stories - running makeup, streaks of mascara, racoon eyes…(maybe you’ve seen people coming off the dance floor you just wanted to take aside and warn.) Well, let’s make sure you’re never one of these.

Tricks and Tips to make your Makeup Stay On

1 - Makeup primer - apply this after moisturizing and before foundation to make sure your makeup stays put.

2 - One commonly used trick is to use hairspray on your face.

This certainly helps makeup not run. However it can be quite harsh on your skin. After all, it’s designed for hair, not your delicate facial skin! Better to stick to a good primer.

3 - For your lips - primer again.

Using a lipstick primer will give a great color with depth. Then apply lip gloss over this. This combinations stays on much longer than just a simple layer of lipstick.

4 - Eyeshadow with a bit of shimmer on it will really help.

The shimmer tends to last longer than a straight, matte color, and will stand out more in lower lights of a going out environment.

Handy tips

bring some makeup remover with you. If you don’t have any, some basic moisturizer or concealer can do the trick. This way if you do get any stray makeup, you can do quick running repairs as you need to.
